PestPac vs. Deck: Run the Service Business or Grow the Relationships Around It?
PestPac runs the pest-control operating system: leads, service, routes, billing, and customer communication. Deck helps a team stay close to the partners and opportunities that sit outside it.
PestPac and Deck should not be framed as replacements for each other. PestPac is purpose-built software for running a pest-control company. Deck is an email-first assistant for the important work that is harder to fit into a service record, route, campaign, or dashboard.
For a company already using PestPac well, the useful question is not, “Can Deck send a better service reminder?” PestPac already offers the operational stack for that. The question is, “Which relationships could bring the next customer or commercial account, and how does the team make sure those relationships do not go cold?”
We make Deck. PestPac details below are based on WorkWave’s public product material, checked July 28, 2026. Features can vary by PestPac package and configuration.
The short answer
Choose PestPac to capture and manage leads, quote and schedule work, route technicians, bill customers, run recurring service, and manage the operating record for a pest-control business.
Use Deck alongside it when the revenue opportunity is in conversations outside that operating record: a property manager who may introduce several buildings, a realtor who sees a new homeowner every week, a commercial contact who needs a second location serviced, or a customer who mentioned another property months ago.
PestPac vs. Deck at a glance
| Question | PestPac | Deck |
|---|---|---|
| Main job | Run pest-control sales, service, and operations | Help a person keep selected relationships and context moving |
| Customer record | Customer, order, service, route, billing, and service history | The threads, files, Projects, and read-only sources you deliberately share |
| Sales and follow-up | Lead management, Sales Center, marketing automation, and customer notifications | Private research, context gathering, draft preparation, and relationship follow-through outside the operating system |
| Service delivery | Scheduling, routing, mobile field work, recurring service, payments, and reporting | A morning update or prepared next step across the conversations you choose to send |
| Access model | A configured business system of record | An assistant email address; CC or forward selected material to it |
| Best fit | Operating the service business | Growing and protecting relationships that do not fit neatly into the service workflow |
The job PestPac does
PestPac is designed to cover the full pest-control lifecycle. WorkWave describes its platform as combining marketing, sales, office and field operations, customer experience, and payments. Its public feature list includes customer and order management, scheduling, route optimization, billing and payments, field tools, Sales Center, customer notifications, marketing automation, online reviews, and a customer portal.
That means a PestPac customer should start with PestPac for the core jobs: responding to a lead, preparing a service order, scheduling the technician, managing recurring service, collecting payment, and communicating standard service or renewal information. WorkWave also describes lead management and marketing tools that can track leads and automate sales processes.
Those are not gaps Deck should pretend to fill.

The job Deck does beside PestPac
Deck is useful when the person who can create the next piece of revenue is not simply a lead in the sales queue.
Consider a small commercial-growth team. A property manager mentions that another building may need service next quarter. A realtor asks a technician for a trusted contact. An insurance agent refers a homeowner after a claim. A customer says they are buying a second property. Each conversation may happen in email, after a meeting, or in a forwarded note. It may be too early or too informal to become a PestPac opportunity, but it is still worth remembering.
Deck gives the team a place to hand over that selected context. It can prepare a follow-up in the team’s voice, research a company or property before the next conversation, and send a recurring private update about the relationships the team wants to keep warm. The team keeps the judgment and sends the message; Deck makes the next step easier to see and complete.
This is also useful for leadership context. Forward a few important customer, vendor, and partner threads, then ask Deck for a morning update: what changed, where a decision is needed, and which relationship deserves a touch today. That is not a replacement for PestPac reporting. It is a way to connect the human context that usually lives between systems.
A practical division of work
| Use PestPac for | Use Deck for |
|---|---|
| A new residential lead, quote, service order, route, recurring appointment, invoice, or standard reminder | A partner relationship, executive introduction, commercial opportunity, or customer conversation that needs thoughtful follow-through |
| Customer and service history | A private synthesis of selected threads and notes before a call or meeting |
| Campaigns and repeatable notifications configured in the system | A prepared, specific outreach note when a person or opportunity merits it |
| Operating metrics and service activity | A recurring, private view of the relationship work the team has chosen to track |
Which should you choose?
Choose PestPac if you need the system that runs the business: sales records, routes, dispatch, service work, billing, customer communication, and operational reporting.
Choose Deck if you already have that operating foundation and want a lightweight way to stay close to the people who create the next commercial account, referral, expansion opportunity, or strategic partnership. Deck does not need access to the whole mailbox or the PestPac database to begin. Add its email address to the conversations you want help with, and it returns its work only to you.
The two can coexist cleanly. PestPac remains the system of record for the service business. Deck becomes a private assistant for the relationship work around it.
Try the Deck version of this workflow
Forward the selected partner and customer threads to your Deck assistant and write:
These are the relationships that could lead to commercial or referral business this quarter. Tell me what changed, which person needs a thoughtful follow-up, and draft the next note for my review. Reply only to me.
Get your Deck address when you want to try that workflow with a small set of real conversations.
